Intermotor Rotor Arm, Distributor

The rotor arm is part of the ignition system, sitting inside the distributor cap. It's driven by a gear which turns the arm, spinning it so that the metal ends make contact with the electrical parts inside.

This sparks each individual spark plug in turn, giving the ignition required for the internal combustion engine to work.

Over time, the rotor arms will degrade and so will require replacing to keep your engine running smoothly. Common signs include engine misfires, car not starting, the Check Engine Light coming on, and excessive or unusual engine noises. The rotor arm can also overheat, burn and become difficult to remove under the distributor cap.
