Hello & welcome to my auctions. Up for consideration is a stunning and meticulously hand painted porcelain button. In Victorian times, a lot of these were bought blank and hand painted by ladies or gentlemen at home. This treasure is not only in mint condition, it has meticulous attention to detailing. First of all, it has one of the most popular flowers of its time~ beautiful blue forget me nots and several buds with its yellow/red stamens. Each petal has reddish accents on the petals. Long spear shaped green leaves and slender stems surround them. Lush gilt is hand painted around the edge and in a circle around the flowers. Raised gold 'dots' are hand painted on the gilt as well. There is also a cobalt border with scalloped detailing and what looks like gilt leaves~all done in incredible meticulous detailing for such a small surface. It is signed on the back by its artist "SMI." (Last photo.)  It has absolutely no chips, cracks, flakes, damage or restoration anywhere and absolutely no paint wear either. It measures approximately 1 1/8 inch. (Last photo.) I have other buttons listed, and can ship them for one cost.
