Our Opinion:                A very interesting book - Thorbecke’s subjects for this book came all walks of life, including The Manchu Duke, The Eunuch, and The Ultra-Modern Girl all the way to The Slave and The Cabbage Vendor.

A rare book with affectionate anecdotes depicting the people of Beijing in the 1930s in their everyday lives.

Internally a few marks and browning to prelims – Foxing to a few early pages. A few margin marks and small tears to some edges. Tightly bound – crisp clear tipped in photographs - No ownership mark.
