Canon 5D Mark 1. 12.8MP sensor. Great way to get a full frame digital without breaking the bank. The camera is in good condition-there is one weird problem... The camera doesn't work with a cmos battery installed.  This is the little button cell that is under the left side of the camera beneath the output ports. I put in a new CR2016(correct type) and the camera will not fire. If you take the battery out it prompts you for the date but I always click past that and begin shooting. Right now the camera doesn't have a cmos battery installed and runs fine off the main BP-511A battery pack.
I have never seen this issue on a 5D and there is no mention of an issue like this in the forums. The camera takes great pictures and has no other functional issues that I have come across. The sensor is in good shape and there are no problems with the images. This camera has the reinforced shutter, not the weak earlier one. It has some cosmetic scratches but it is in good shape overall. There are some scratches on the top window, and minor ones on the main viewing screen. You can see its overall condition from the pictures. It will come with genuine Canon BP-511A battery, body cap and no other accessories.I will charge the battery before shipping and pack it separately. After you receive the camera you can put in the battery and shoot immediately.

Because of this power issue I am selling the camera "AS-IS" it's not a parts camera but it does need a repair to be fully functional. It doesn't save the date and time. The shutter will not fire with the cmos battery in. It has been put in correctly and is the right type. What I found is if the cmos battery is in you have to remove it then pull the main battery out, turn the camera on. This discharges the camera power and then shut it off and put the battery in and turn it back on and its ready to shoot. It does work and shoot normally otherwise. You probably can get around this with a battery grip and changing out one battery at a time. But I always try and describe things I sell with the same level of detail as if I was buying it. All the modes work and there are no other functional issues. I recently took this out for a frosty morning nature shoot and it worked flawlessly. I have a copy of one of the pictures in the description.

The camera is running the latest version of the firmware 1.1.1 for the 5D.

There is now way of finding the shutter count on a 5D Mark 1. This lens works great with the Tokina 19-35mm that I also have for sale!

The files are awesome and produce great prints. I ship next day via USPS priority.

11/11/2018 I added a shot of the sky. Yes it's overcast but this was on the monochrome/red filter setting. Yes it is deliberately underexposed. If you want to test a sensor point it at a sky or solid white and underexpose is 2 or 3 stops. This brings out any imperfections in a sensor. This is also discussed in the following question posted here. After shooting this I cleaned the sensor with my rocket bulb to after some dust in the upper left corner of the frame. I only use a hand held bulb and hold the camera upside down when I clean a sensor and this has always worked great.  Another recommendation I have with the 5D is after inserting a new memory card- immediately format it from the camera. I always do this when presenting new cards to the camera. Just a helpful thing that has worked for me over many years and many different Canon camera types. My first Canon digital was a 20D, and when handled correctly it really was a gem.
