The set will come with a set of springs or rubber tubing, screws and a set of covers. select from black, aged white or white. I do ship world wide and know that shipping to Europe,Canada and Australia is pretty painless and not very expensive, about $23. If shipping is an issue I can also ship out using First class but it will take a bit longer but save some money. Shipping to the U.S. is a flat $8 priority mail (tracking # included)

I've been getting some nice reviews from all across the world. Here's what people are saying....

Dear chrisher!,

I finally got them installed. Neck and middle are slightly hotter than traditional, without the excess mids like Texas Specials. Bridge pickup is a great match, thanks for the suggestion. They retain all the clarity of the best strat pickups, with a little more substance. This is a great set of pickups!!

I wish you all the best, it's cool to see something handmade at an affordable price!!

Hey Chris – sorry it took so long to get back to you, but this set completely changed the guitar from not much more than an expensive toy with the Variax effects to one that sounds killer with the

effects off and just running your PU’s.

I’ll probably be ordering another set of 3 single coils soon.  I’m going to pick up an old G&L Legacy and if the PU’s do not impress me, let’s see what you can come up with.  My G&L with the AL-2 set is my favorite, but I would obviously want to see what else you could do to get a big, meaty sound as a comparison to the sweetness of the AL-2’s.

Thanks again

Hi Chris

As promised here is my feedback on the last set (A2, non-RWRP, with baseplate etc...)

Keep the specs of these in your books : there are fantastic.

Basses are round, clean, and they are there... who said that A2 is a week magnet

Mediums are there, they are present and in a good quantity

Treble... yes plenty of them, clean, crisp, maybe a bit too much.

P.S. I have used a 0.01µF tone cap (I use 0.05µF usually) and I’m very much satisfied with the result.

One pic of the assembled guitar.

Thanks again Chris. Nisso

Yes, I've had some of your pickups before, loved em, love the flexibility and flatwork choice and magnet choice, your my go to for Strats, but I havent built any Casters for ages as my workshop has been out of commission, mainly because I had to get a complete new roof and then get all the kit back in and reinstalled. I just don't get the time I used to.

How do Jag pickups differ from Strat pickups, lower wind and the metal surround? Size still the same?

Cheers man

Sean

Hi Chris,

Got some tele pups from you in March and finally got them installed fortnight ago. Really happy with the sound and your recommendations. Thanks a heap.

Now onto my latest project – Japan Squier Strat ‘94 Silver Series. I am a massive Pink Floyd – therefore David Gilmour fan. I believe he uses Vintage pups. Not sure if it’s important but I will set these up with standard config on a 5 way switch but will add a pull pot(s) to allow all 3 pups and also just a neck and bridge option also. Also I only play with all pots dimed, so I’m not one to be fiddling with nobs much.

What do you recommend/thoughts?

Cheers

Mark

Hey Chris,

Just letting you know, the pickups are great. Been loving my strat more than ever. If I ever need another set, I'll be sure to get in touch. Best, Michael

-       Chris --

-       Really impressed with the pickups. They delivered a big, clean, clear and yes -- twangy -- sound. Well defined, and well matched. Played nice with my Fender amp. I realized my string action is probably a little low, so I am going to tinker a bit more. Very enthused though, and very appreciative!

-       Thanks, Chris!

Hey Chris these pickups are great! If I had a tail it would surely be wagging!

Thanks,

Rick

Hi Chris I just wanted to let you know that I installed the middle pickup today and it sounds great, so I wanted to tell you how happy I am with both your pickups and the wonderful service you have given me.

Kind regards,

John

Thank you Chris I WILL definitely be back for more and I've already started telling my friends about you so I hope some more orders come your way.

Thanks again mate,

John

Hey Chris!

Well I guess we're all done! the magnetising went through with no issues. My soldering isn't too bad either! :-)

The pickups sound GREAT. They're v-e-r-y different to the originals, each pickup has a sound very different to the others, and they work very well together. I'll try them with my other amp and some of my pedals and see how they like their new home in my Strat. I'm hoping my VHT amp (Special 6 combo) will make them sparkle a bit more, especially on the in-between settings. My Bugera amp seems to making them sound a little dull. Regardless, I'm liking 'em!

I recorded a demo with the stock Fender pickups and I'll do a similar demo of these one evening this week and stick it on my Youtube channel. You deserve some advertising and I'll do what little I can!

So all in all I'm another happy customer, and THANK SO MUCH for the first class customer service!

Cheers!!!

Dave

Dear chrisher!,

I am in the process of installing them now but I just wanted to say, thanks! these pick-ups are phenomenal--everything is exactly what I wanted. I am going to make an instructional youtube video and will recommend you to my friends.

Thanks

-       Hi Chris

-

-       That was fast ! they are already in my hands.

-

-       Not installed yet, I’ll let you know.

-

-       The bridge PU is well marked.

-

-       The other two (5.85 K  and 5.91 K )are indifferently neck or middle ? or should I use the lowest (5.85 K) as neck.

-

-       Many thanks again

Dear chrisher!,

Thanks for the pickups, they look fantastic! Unfortunately it will be a little while before I get the body/neck for my build but when I do I can't wait to check'em out.

Dear chrisher!,

Thanks for your prompt answer Chris. I'm on leave till 13th of may, I will contact you then for the next set. I was happy with the A2 ones. regards. Nisso.

Chris, so far, so good! I'm really impressed. I got it back from the shop on Saturday and blasted away for a few hours. They restrung the Tokai with 9's, not my usual 11's, so I am not at full strength. But the sound of the guitar was super clean and beefy, as promised. I'm really enthused, and am going to restring tonight and test it out in a pair of upcoming gigs.

You do great work! I'll report back with more detail after the gigs.

Thanks so much, Chris!

Dear chrisher!,

Hey Chris, These are some great pickups, thanks. Took me a while to get them in a guitar then find a good cap to install, but finally did. These are full of tone and sustain, love them. You need to keep the spec's on these when offering the # 5 magnetic setup. Again couldn't be happier. Giles

-       Dear chrisher!,

-

-       I installed the pickups you made in for me in my '93 Fender Am. Std. Tele today; let me say that I?m mad at myself for putting up with mediocre sound for so long. Your pickups are awesome! My Tele is a totally new guitar, many thanks!

-       Hi Chris,

-

-       I bought a set of strat replacements early last year from you and put them in a strat clone by Legacy.   They were wound to a 1962-ish spec.

-       The thread about the mods was posted at www.agileguitarforums.com.

-       Hope that rings a bell!  Well, I have been so pleased with that set that I am looking to see if you can wind a set for the Legacy Tele clone I bought from them in December.

-       Just wondering what you have or suggest to upgrade the ceramics in this tele.  I want to retain the tele twang on the bridge, but want to get it close to a 60’s era tele sound if possible.

-       Again, appreciate any info!

-

-

-       Jim Hull

-       Hey Chris!

-

-       I just got done listening to the clips. Those pups sound prettttty sweet!

-       What magnet poles or magnet-numbers did you use for each pole, in each pup? What magnets did you use for neck and middle? Bridge?

-

-       By the way, the N-M position clip sounds very "CCR-ish" and the B position sounds like "Shadows-on-steroids-twangy leads" , maybe even B-52's new wave (under the right settings). Nice nice!

-

-       Actually, the N-M position could also pass off as a Beatles-sque jangly chime, just imagine that through alnico blues (or golds), and crank the TB channel.

-

-       The M-B position has the classic "quack", but I can just imagine that under the right amp settings and guitar settings; one can make a pretty nice VU "Venus in Furs" or even "Tomorrow's Parties" tone.  Actually, I just discovered that one of the VU members played a Fender Strat in the first two albums, not sure which year or edition though...so that pretty much solved the "early recordings" mystery. The player did use the Vox Phantom a bit later though, maybe during '68-69-ish.

-

-       Ok, thanks for those awesome clips, really appreciate the help.

-

-       Best,

-

-       Chris

Dear chrisher!,

Hey Chris. It's me again Giles. Really like the set you made me earlier with the # 3 magnets and decided to order another set from you. I am interested in the SRV/Hendricks set you talk about in the ad. Let's talk and work out the needed information and details, ok. koomey53

-       koomey53

-       Dear chrisher!,

-

-       Hi Chris, here is my feedback on your pickups. I have installed them on a lightweight swamp ash body (from MJT aged guitars) and maple neck strat. It is the best combination that I have built up to now, very resonant and fantastic sustain.

-       Now for the PUs : in summary they are excellent. More on treble and mid side, weaker low end. Very clean (on a vintage Deluxe Reverb). The in-between positions (non-RWRP) are the best I have heard up to now (and I have heard a lot). The bridge PU (6.2K) is a bit on the icy side (I would swap it with the neck position but I dont have enough wire).

-       That's it my friend. The options we took were perfect and Alnico 2 was a good choice too. Highly recommended.

-       Best regards

My name is Isa, I'm from the Netherlands and have the '74 strat

(with your pickups) Nils Bryant bought last month. I have to say, really great pickups.

-       Tried by a lot of my musician-friends over here in Amsterdam and got a lot of people interested

Just wanted to let you know that I finally got that guitar together. The pickups you wound for me sound great! They are just what I wanted, tone-wise. That mixed magnet idea is a real gem. Thanks very much. Very happy! LEE

Wow, that's amazing.  Thanks for such a quick turnaround.  This will make 3 of my guitars outfitted with your pickups.  These are immeasurably better than any Fender, Dimarzio , Gibson or Duncan product and I have been through plenty of those.  You rock, dude - thanks again and all the best to you.

David

Dear chrisher!,

Hi Chris, IV installed your pickups and I am happy with them! They are very throaty with quack at the same time! The neck pickup tone turned down surprisingly yields great jazz sounds. The grey bobbins are really nice, too bad the are underneath. Heehee. I played them like and the sound is big. The overdrive level peaks out at high level volumes but I expect this to change as the pickups get older. The shuts at vol8 start kicking into ovrdeive while wound 4 sounds are still cleaner. I feel like wine the pickups get better with age. Im am also using an inferior type .1 cap that I expect to change in a few days. Chris thank you, I am happy with these and plan to order a Tele set in the future! Take care and will keep in touch. Regards, gabe

-       Chris,

-

-       Cool, I value your 2 cents. Those #5 magnet pickups you sold me lately are killer badass. You never told me whether you made them like the lollar one or not but they are a treasure for me.

-       Dear chrisher!,

-

-       Chris, I gotta tell you: these.mp3s are phenomenal. Let's catch up for a chat sometime soon. I'm in for a neck humbucker for sure, and 80% on a set of Strat pickups. I think I might just need to try/listen to a few more to feel a bit more confident.

Dear chrisher!,

Chris,

Wanted to drop a line and let you know that I got the upgrades done and finally got a chance to hear them. Well, I'm pretty impressed. Huge improvement over the stock pups, and the neck and bridge are fantastic. Really impressed with the neck--what a great tone! Nice clear blues tone, and fantastic when dirtied up. Bridge has great clarity and plenty of clean bite without the ice pick tone. Will scream when driven. Middle is perfect complement to those two, and has good chunkiness alone. Second--they are very quiet as well. Really impressed, and very satisfied customer here! Best Regards from Texas!

Yeah, couldn't be happier. I got a pickup from the Pickup Wizard in Canada for another tele, a replica of a pickup from the Blackguard Book, it's a relic 52 tele lead at 6.8k unpotted, squeals and squaks nicely. My tele with your pickups is still my go to though! I also got a set of Duncan Antiquities, but they just don't cut it, ironically, currently trying to sell em. I find it amazing how many people are making good pickups aside from the main worldwide brands. I actually got the flatwork from Stew Mac to give it a shot myself, have to make a winding machine though, and have had no time to do that. Thanks for the mail, hope you are getting some good business in these challenging times
Pete

Chris love them really just now getting to play them you did a great job have let a couple of other guitar players play them one said they sound like my lollar specials I think they have a better sound not as deep I will be getting back with you shortly and I will keep on showing of the pickup love them.Talk with you latter dude

- cajunwoodrick
Hi Chris - I got the pups installed and played them some today, they sound pretty darn good. Just what the doctor ordered. Thanks again.
~James

Chris-

These pickups really are stellar. You nailed my favorite tones. That neck pickup has some punch for leads, I think it's the perfect blend. I will probably order those two the same way. My favorite tones.
Daniel

Look, these are really nice sounding. I'm a blues rock player but last night I was seranading my wife to "sleepwalk" and "wicked Games", man what a sound. I can turn around on a dime and comp hendrix. Awesome.
-D

Chris, got the pickups. Had a wired pick guard ready for the new pickups. Installed pickups and after playing and adjusting overall I,m pleased. The pickups I replaced with yours were the Fralin Woodstock, I pretty good sounding pickup. It is not really a fare comparison because the pickups are different. The amp I'm playing is a "built by me" push/pull 6v6 using PIO capacitors, carbon comp.resistors 12ay7 preamp. tubes. Modified tone circuit between a Fender Bassman and Super Reverb. I can crank this thing to 12 and it stays clean. The 6v6 just compress a little. I call it "Mr.Clean". OK, overall your pickups are brighter, the low E has a piano guilty to it. The tone is Straty and clean. The hybrid stagger works well with the warmoth neck. "compound radius" I really expected for the D string to be strong given the pole height, but it's really not. These pickups will stay in this guitar and the real test will be playing with others. I expect for my playing to be noticed {good or Bad} I have some thoughts on pickups for another guitar. I'll contact you later. ALLEN

...I played your pickups through another amp. Another build, similar to a JTM45. This combination resulted in a full fat tone in neck/middle and a twangy clean tone in the bridge

.Sounds really good. Next I'll try some pedals. So far I'm really happy with these pickups. The lower power doesn't hit the preamp very hard, but pedals can do that for some drive. ALLEN
I received my handwound Alnico 5 set today and wanted to let you know.I will be leaving feedback shortly and will install the pickups in one of my Strats this weekend. They certainly look a lot better than anything I have bought by Rio Grande, Fralin or Duncan. I will definitely let you know how they sound.

Well that's the fastest delivery ever! I'll leave you feedback now on eBay, I won't have a chance to install them until next week, but I'll get in touch and give you the feedback on them when I do. Thanks again, the build quality looks excellent,
Best wishes,Pete

Chris; these pickups sound amazing!!!!!!!!we are stoked......Thank you and best regards Gerry

Thanks chris .. there all safe here in london .. and good work,, they all looked beautifuly made .. i'll get busy and mail you more later - best wishes, joe hey chris .. i cranked up the first order .. it has the two over wound pickups,, middle and neck .. with a little 59 at the bridge .. your pickups sounds very clear and were driving .. a good match for the 59 ... thumbs up, they sound top dolla, joe

Right back to guitar and pickups.........got a fantastic old old old mint green plate to put on the surf green strat with your pickupsthe covers you sent were a little dark so i put on an old set of silver series cover, and hey presto the pickups sound even better!!more sort of Hendrixy,do not know why!!??.........by the the way they got the thumbs up from my mates. Cheers Steve

Hey Chris Just put a USA Vintage bridge on the strat with your pickups on ......................and WOW!!!!what a difference.............Hendrix's Crosstown traffic tone to a tee!!Unbefekkinleivable!!

You have got to get more out there.........Nasty, nasty, nasty, in the words of Frank Zappa..... Speak sooncheers steve

Hi!Have played with the pickups today w. the band. wonderful sounding pickups :-)I'm VERY happy with the sound. I have played Lindy F, Voodoo, Fender 54, Fat 50's, S-D and your pickups are in the same league, for sure.I've got a clear open sound with ALL the pickups, and I hear very well that they all in the same family, so to speak. All of them have a distinct sound of they own, but are close related neighbours and play in the same ballpark soundwise. Thanks a lot! :-))))))))))))))// Ulf- ulfsanHi!Yes, sorry, I didn't read your auction that well. (*about the extra wire included*)You do say that the wire could be to short. You're right. But that wasn't a big problem as long as the sound is good. And the sound is GOOD!Chimey and the pups love tube screamer and fuzz.Maybe we will deal again?? I have another strat....Best, Ulf I got my pickups going today. Installed in a rather dark sounding agathis body with a maple neck. After a little height adjusting I got some rockin tone going. I love the bridge, which I usually don't on a strat, & the neck, which everyone loves on a strat. The middle was good too, not as great as the other two. The combination positions were OK but not as cool as the bridge or neck alone. I noticed the closer I could get them to the strings the better I liked them. Also, they are dead quiet, very cool. I wonder if you ever make any flat magnet pickups? I love those Seymour Duncan quarter pounders. They are way hot &have alnico5 magnets. I prefer the alnico2 over them & the 3s. I wouldn't need them hot like the duncans because I could raise them up like I do humbuckers. I am very pleased with your sound let me know on the flat pickups. Rocking out on the new single coils in Tennessee,Jon
Thanks for the info. I love the pickups and I recommend them to all of my friends. these pickups have a real vintage vibe (think early 60's Fender) and have tone for days they pair up with my '65 twin perfectly.I have a feeling that the covers might be 50mm because the ones from the US pickups I have are to big.I did not know there where diff. spacing's.......Well you learn something new every day. What I would really like are some p-90's made to fit a Vintage les paul copy I have (it comes standard with buckers).I am thinking like early 50's gold top vibe..............vintage baby!!!let me know a estimate and thanks. Ian

Hey Chris Pickups arrived, in and on!They sound great!!especially the Middle and bridge together............. Wicked!!Great job Thanks Steve

About me:

By day I’m the lab manager at a metal finishing company. My daily duties include analysis of various solutions through wet chemistry methods and by use of an atomic absorption spectrophotometer. I also analyze finished products through coulometry. I have an analytical mind but I’m also creative so I set out to expand my horizons

Music has always been a love of mine and about a year and a half ago enrolled in the guitar and bass electronics and set up course at the Chicago school of guitar making. This course opened up many doors in my mind and I thought about the many ways that I could apply this knowledge. It also inspired me to learn more and more about guitars and making them (lutherie). One day I ran into a pickup problem and the local repair guy couldn’t fix it. I decided to read and learn about how pickups were made, I read anything I could get my hands on and eventually I figured out the problem! After all of this I set out on a quest to make a pickup from scratch and WOUND 4 SOUND was born. Through a lot of trial and error I figured out the best way to do it with the tools that I have and result is what you see here, pickups that are made by hand in the USA. While I did read everything I could get my hands on I still don’t see myself as a know-it-all. I still read and still look for ways to improve in any way possible. New news! Early November I took a pickup winding course at Roberto-Venn. The course was taught by Jason Lollar and it was well worth the time and money. Many questions answered and many new doors opened. Still after all the pickups made and courses taken, I still don't know it all but want to keep learning and growing. I do want to thank all of my customers. Without you all I'd be nowhere.

With all that being said, I still have to tell you that I don’t want your money, I want you to be totally happy and I want you to come back every time that you want or need another pickup. The relationship is the most important thing! If at any time you are having issues with your pickups due to faulty parts or workmanship while you still own them, I will repair or replace the pickup free of charge.

I will have more pickups coming and if you don’t see any that you want, send me your specs and I can make some for you. I have formvar, plain enamel and solderon wire to choose from. I also have alnico 2,3 and 5 magnets. For bobbins I use vulcanized fiberboard (black or grey) and plastic.
