ELECTRO SLEEP THERAPY DEVICE

Description

 The electro sleep apparatus is based on SOMLEC therapy introduced by Russia. The best results are seen in those patients with increased psychomotor activity, i.e. Anxiety states, Tension state, Insomnia,Hysteria, Obsessional neurosis, Phobic states & Hypocondraises etc.

A Treatment room where the patient will not be disturbed, should be used & it is an advantage if curtains are used to darken the room. No special preparation is required & normal meals may be taken before treatment.

Patients should be instructed to prepare themselves as if for a normal sleep, ie. Bladder should be voided. At the first treatment the patients should be told to make themselves as comfortable as possible & to adopt their normal attitude in bed for sleep. It should be well explained that they will experience no pain with the treatment ,but will only feel a slight tapping sensation on their forehead. They should be told that the treatment will make them feel very relaxed & that they will gradually become drowsy & finally enjoy a relaxing sleep.

Two Electrodes with red wire are to be fixed just above eyebrows & the single one with black wire at the rear central position ( Inion point ) with soft valcro tape. Jelly should be used for better contacts.

The Apparatus must be checked to ensure that intensity control should be at zero position. Plug the main lead to 220V AC mains socket & switch on. The indication comes through a pilot lamp.

The Intensity control is then very slowly turned from minimum & the patient is asked to tell as he can feel the tapping sensation on the forehead. With the patient's co-operation the intensity control should now be increased to the level at which the tapping sensation is more noticeable, but not so strong that it is unpleasant. The treatment thus continues for 1.5 to 2 hours during which the patient requires no supervision.

At the end of the treatment period , the intensity control is slowly brought to minimum. Very few patients sleep at the first treatment due to apprehension but the majority sleep well after the 3rdfew only achieve sleep after 7-8 treatments.

Treatment should be given everyday. The course of treatment depends on each individual case & the response obtained, but will normally be a minimum of 15-20 treatments .After treatment remove the electrodes & clean them.
