Fine 14-15 century south Indian bronze
Vishnu, from Kerala.
This lovely bronze Vishnu is a fine
example of how local tastes and traditions had created different type casts,
through out India, even when the influence of the Vijayanagar Empire was
at its zenith.
It is a lovely Vishnu, set amongst a
pedestal, with fine deep rich green patina.
The upper most part [probably the umbrella]
is lost.
There are no dents, losses or any other
damage to the bronze.
It comes from a big European collection.
