Original, One-Person Owner

Big Ass Comics No.1 published in San Francisco, CA by Rip Off Press, June 1969. A now-classic production by Robert Crumb from the height of the underground comix era. Crumb's feverish and twisted libido is given free rein in "Dale Steinberger: The Jewish Cowgirl" Other stories are "Eggs Ackley among the Vulture Demonesses",  and "All Meat Comics."

There is a lot hair-splitting regarding the various printing editions. According to "The Official Underground and Newave Comix Price Guide," by Jay Kennedy (published in Summer, 1982) the cover is glossy in the third printing and the figure of Eggs Ackley on front cover has green pants and dark green shoes (definitely not brown). "R. Crumb" is in a red box at lower right corner of front cover. (First printing "R. Crumb" is in a white box). "All Meat Comics" is followed by a one-pager titled "Mrs. Quiver" (She Shivers & Shakes Just Like Jelly on a Plate). Up next is "Artsy Fartsy" on inner back cover.

This copy is in Very Good condition. The left side has a crease (like a fold) running vertical from the top edge through the "B" and down past the right edge of the yellow box. In this area to the spine there is a slight ripple on the front and back covers (must have had some slight moisture damage along the years). A very important collectible in the oeuvre of Crumb's comic books. Rarer because it is only the third printing and only one person has owned this copy (almost 50 years!).

PLEASE note: we have listed, from the same owner, issues of Snatch No.1 and No.2. They are in the Adult Section.
