Item Description
With this handy gadget, it's easy to determine the size of almost any British Standard size (imperial) o ring. 

The cross section (width) of the o ring is identified by using the slots at the top.

For the larger o rings, place the o ring over the grooves under your identified slot and pull taut. There is a window in which the correct size will appear.

The AS size of small o rings can be found by matching them with the silhouettes at the side of the gauge.
