960 Postcard – Quanah Parker, Comanche Warrior & Chief 1890 Photo – NEW

QUANAH PARKER, Comanche Warrior (1845-1911) Son of Comanche chief, Peta Nocona, and white captive, Cynthia Ann Parker. Quanah became a leader in the Comanche Wars of the 1860s and 1870s fighting relentlessly against the intruders on Comanche territories. He personally led a joint force of Comanche, Kiowa, Cheyenne and Arapaho warriors in the famed 2nd attack at Adobe Walls on June 27, 1874, between 700+ Indian forces and a group of 28 Bison hunters defending the settlement of Adobe Walls (especially the saloon) in what is now Hutchinson County, Texas. Adobe Walls was scarcely more than a lone island in the vast sea of the Great Plains, a solitary refuge uncharted and practically unknown. The battle ended with a lucky single shot by hunter Billy Dixon who killed an Indian from the distance of 1000 to 1500 yards, causing the Indians to flee.
