The  most prestigious Art book produced in Pakistan, Amal-e-Chughtai is an amalgam of thoughts and poetry of Dr. Allama Iqbal, National poet of Pakistan , and the art works of M.A Rahman Chughtai (1897-1975). Inaugurated by President Muhammed Ayub Khan on 31st December 1968, at Alhamra Arts Council, Lahore. The original edition was numbered to 275 copies and sold for Rs. 1500 at that time. A second popular edition was introduced in 1970 for Rs. 500. As a large number of original edition was stolen by a corrupt dealer, an off shoot edition was created later to make up for the theft. It is called a SPECIAL EDITION and made in the same period. The edition was unsigned and unnumbered,  but the rarity is the same as it was also a very limited edition. Very few copies of the 1968 edition (same as special edition) are there and the 1970 edition is seen more in the market.

The book printed by Nisar Art Press, Lahore and the 37 Colour plates (pasted on page) printed by City Engraving Company, Hull.
The many black and white gravure plates printed in England too. Qitas in calligraphy printed in letter-press. Custom binding by Haji Basheer of Ambala Binders, Lahore. Gold stamped. Pages around 476 on Japanese Vellum hand made paper. Pristine copy in original board box, authenticated by Arif Rahman Chughtai, son of the artist.

A detailed history is given free with the book, entitled "THE LEGENDARY BOOK", PRINTED IN 2017.
