Russian Imperial typical silver jewelry manufacturing Sugar Basket, bottom part with Cyrillic maker's mark and
hallmarks.
Antique Sugar Basket produced solid silver, bottom side are
hallmarked with Russian Imperial Silver 84".
The exterior
has a finely detailed engraved images of the graving ornament.
The best indication of condition is to study the photographs
carefully. A fine piece to add to your
collection.
This spectacular Russian Sugar Basket, was
created for legendary milestone of Imperial Russia Era and was made with high
quality jewelry Technic.
Rare & Unique Art Antic of 84" Solid
Silver Sterling cup shot as the cradle of the Russian “Art Deco Imperial Sugar Basket”.
Selling in Moscow of was an established
in 1900 – 1917 years (It has a Personal Stamped on the reverse side of the Basket).
Represent the period of "Imperial Modern Gilded
Silverware Art", were Romantics, Realists and
Impressionists.
Featuring a swing handle, the bowl has beautiful
decorations in a band around the external rim and over the handle.
There is a similar but not identical decoration on the spoon handle. They go
very well together as you can see.
Both the spoon bowl and the inside of the sugar bowl still have a vibrant gilt
wash as shown.
Under the basket there is
an impressed star with hammer and sickle emblem and number of fineness (84”).
There is as much
diversity in the styles and designs of antique silver pieces as there is in the
periods and styles of architecture. In fact, the designs of silver pieces tend
to be strongly influenced by the periods and styles of architecture and
furniture of the time. Most of the fine silver was produced in England where silversmithing
was more prominent than in any other part of the world. It was in England that
the quality and production standards were originated and influenced all other
antique silver producers. The "sterling" standard was brought to
England by German silversmiths or the Easterlings (changed to sterling by
dropping the first two letters.) This standard remains the standard of quality
today.
