An authentic, old mask from the Bamileke from around the mid XX century. Rare old piece with gorgeous bead decoration. This dramatic helmet mask/headcrest features three lizard figures on top; it is quite heavy at 2500 grams. These masks are danced during harvest rituals and when honouring tribal royality.
With so many recent pieces around on the market, this old, authentic mask is a true find!

condition: minor age cracks and some more serious cracks in the lizard figures on top of the head (one has been probably repaired long time ago): all cracks, earlier break-offs, repairs are stable but on long terms should be re-glued. General wear due to age, some loose beads, otherwise still good- exactly as seen on illustrations
