DESCRIZIONE
Il Cappero (Capparis spinosa) è un arbusto dal quale si ricavano i capperi (boccioli) o i frutti, entrambi consumabili dopo averli conservati sotto’olio, sotto aceto o sotto sale.
La pianta del cappero vegeta in primavera-estate dopo il riposo invernale, i primi fiori compaiono verso maggio-giugno e la fioritura prosegue per tutta l’estate.
Il luogo ideale per la pianta è a ridosso di vecchie mura, rocce calcaree, e falesie.
Non richiede particolari accorgimenti, neanche dal punto di vista idrico.
La riproduzione avviene per talea o per seme. Essendo difficoltosa la riproduzione per seme per via della bassa percentuale di germinabilità, è preferibile seguire diversi accorgimenti per aumentarne le possibilità:
- seminare più semi possibili
- immergere i semi in acqua calda per qualche giorno prima di seminare
- seminare preferibilmente nei mesi invernali
- sperimentare diversi metodi di semina contemporaneamente se si ha a disposizione molti semi.
I semi possono impiegare settimane o mesi per germinare.

The Caper (Capparis spinosa) is a shrub from which are derived the capers (buds) or the fruits, both consumables after being stored sotto'olio, pickled or salted.
The caper plant grows in spring and summer after the winter break, the first flowers appear from May to June and flowering continues throughout the summer.
The ideal location for the plant is in the shelter of the old walls, limestone cliffs and crags.
It does not require particular expedients, even from the point of view of water.
Reproduction is by cuttings or by seed. Being difficult reproduction by seed, because of the low percentage of germination, it is best to follow some tricks to increase the possibilities:
- Sow more seeds possible
- Soak the seeds in hot water for a few days before sowing
- Sow preferably in the winter months
- Experiment with different sowing methods simultaneously if you have many seeds available.
The seeds can take weeks or months to germinate.
