SIZE:  The printed area including titles is approximately 18.5 x 12.5 cm, 7.25 x 5 inches (small) plus good margins.  

ARTIST/CARTOGRAPHER/ENGRAVER: Drawn by S.R. Ridgway and published by H.Besley, Discovery Office, South St, Exeter. 

PROVENANCE: This print was published by Henry Besley in "Views in Devon."  Henry Besley was one of the most innovative printers in Exeter during the mid 19th century. Henry's father Thomas had established his printing office in South Street , Exeter in the late 1790s. He was also a bookseller and bookbinder who continued his father's business printing directories, route books and handbooks that provided an account of the sights visible from the newly constructed railway lines.

TYPE: Antique lithograph printed on paper.

VERSO: There is nothing printed on the reverse side, which is blank.

CONDITION: Good, suitable for framing. Please check the scan for any blemishes prior to making your purchase. BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  Westward Ho! is a seaside village near Bideford in Devon, England. The A39 road provides access from the towns of Barnstaple, Bideford and Bude. It lies at the south end of Northam Burrows and faces westward into Bideford Bay, opposite Saunton Sands and Braunton Burrows.
