ABSOLUTE MUSEUM-GRADE FRAME! Seldom-available original, unrestored "Degas" style picture frame, so-called because the artist's dealer ordered custom frames unique to individual impressionist and post-impressionist masters. The world's top museums, conservators, and collectors seek this style frame to house masterpieces by the likes of Degas, Toulouse-Lautrec, and Pissarro (there are excellent examples of this if you do a web search for this frame style). Hand-carved by French master frame makers during the 19th Century, these are impossibly rare to find with their original gilding work. This example features sharply defined narrow square fluting arrayed in convex relief. It is held together by a single nail into each corner. There is flaking and loss of gold leaf in places, which can work as great patina or make the piece a candidate for professional restoration. Rabbet measures 44x48 cm, or ~17.3x18.9 in. Outer dimensions are ~57.5 x 61cm, or 22.6 x 24 in. International shipping is okay, but you MUST contact me for actual shipping cost first. Thank you!
