ContiTech V-Belt

A V-belt is like a usual belt in a belt drive arrangement but the difference being, the grooves on the pulleys are V in shape and the belt has a trapezoidal cross section. Hence these belts can transfer more power without slipping.

The belt tends to wedge into the groove as the load increases, so the greater the load, the greater the wedging action—improving torque transmission and making the V-belt an effective solution. Thus needing less width and tension than flat belts.
