The rack is 1" thick Appalachian White Oak. It is solid White Oak, not plywood or laminated wood and its as solid as the day is long... It has a blind nailed lap edge and all mating surfaces are joined with waterproof glue so if you use part of it as a shelf for ammo you're good to go. It's got good thick separators too that won't break off with normal use. It comes unfinished so you can stain, paint, seal it as you see fit.  It also comes to you ready to mount.... with screws, drywall anchors, plug buttons and adhesive back felt strips for the barrel pockets to apply after finishing.
