Alan King ( 1930 - 2017 ) met Glenn Miller in 1944 at the age of 14, after a concert at Cheltenham Town Hall, and got advice from his jazz hero on buying his first trombone.Alan went on to form a band and tour all over the world, playing trombone, piano and singing.

After retiring from music in the 1975, he lived in Malvern where he first took up painting.His first show at Kyneton Art Gallery sold all 25 paintings in 3 days

His work has gained him an international reputation in South Africa, Australia, USA, Canada, Holland and France

The painting " Dancing to Major Miller " is hanging in the Calrinda Public Library, USA - Glenn Miller's birthplace.
