A Driver's Eye View of West Cornwall, 'Helford Passage to St Michael's Mount via Leedstown' - on DVD (DV009)

A Driver's Eye View:
Take a road trip through Cornwall, in this the ninth in my series of real-time dvd drives, just one in a series of 'Dave's Cornwall DVD's' that feature a driver's eye view of the highways and byways of Cornwall & Devon. Approximately 60 minutes of pure driving pleasure, filmed using a top quality car camera, and accompanied with gentle soothing music. See what West Cornwall is really like in early season when the roads are quiet.

The Journey:
Just sit back, relax, and take in the view as we take a steady springtime drive in early May. Firstly, after eating a pub lunch at the Ferryman pub, we leave the Helford passage car park and make our way up the narrow country lanes, working our way down the valley alongside the Helford River as we pass through the tiny Hamlet of Port Navas, and eventually make our way to the village of Constantine. Taking a left after the Spar shop, we continue through more country lanes, eventually passing through the village of Gweek, where we take a left turn up Gweek Drive, passing through Gweek Wood, Treverry Wood, and Roskymmer Wood, coming to the roundabout and taking the B3293 that connects with the A3083 at Culdrose.

Driving along the A3083 past Culdrose Airfield, we then take a left at the roundabout towards Helston, bypassing Helston and stopping for a carton of orange juice at Lidl supermarket. We continue up the A394 Penzance Road, up Stithney Common Hill, and at Stithney Common we take a right onto the B3302 and continue up through Trenwheal and on to Leedstown, where we then take a left onto the B3280 through Paul's Green, Townshend, Relubbus, and Goldstithney, eventually coming to the roundabout at the Marazion bypass.

We continue our drive down the Turnpike Road into Marazion, past the post office, and drive on for a short while, where we pull into the car park next to the Station House Pub. With a takeaway coffee from the car park cafe, we take in the sight of St Michael's Mount and the surf rolling in to Marazion beach.

Experience West Cornwall:
In this DVD you will experience West Cornwall on a spring Thursday afternoon on a cloudy but sunny day, where the skies are blue, the roads are quieter than high season, and the sun breaks out after hiding behind white fluffy clouds. The trees are starting to bloom with foliage, as spring proper beckons, and the occasional local can be seen driving the narrow lanes around the Helford Passage. This is a road journey film that shows the stark beauty and tranquility of the narrow route from the idyllic Helford Passage, through Constantine and then onto the main Penzance Road, as well as a detour on the B road up through Leedstown and Goldstithney, when the days are longer and everyday life moves at it's own pace. A lovely 1 hour sojourn away from the humdrum of the city.
