After many years of working with a Nye sales engineer and trying countless synthetic hydrocarbon greases, I've come up with two top choices for microscopes. These synthetic greases will not gas off or react with internal components made from different materials.

This microscope grease kit contains two 12.5 gram jars of Nye Lubricant's synthetic hydrocarbon greases that will make your microscope's controls feel like velvet.

If you plan on lubricating your microscope's diopter and want a damping grease, please let me know and I'll include a free sample.  FYI, 368AXF works well for diopters, but it's not a damping grease.

PTFE Fortified, Tackifier, Rust Inhibited, UV Tracer

A lithium soap thickened, light viscosity, synthetic hydrocarbon grease. For the lubrication of fine focus shafts, stage bearings, cams, sliding surfaces, small gear trains, and mechanical linkages of switch gears. Contains a modifier for improved adherence.

RHEOLUBE 368AXF

Rust Inhibited, Tackifier, PTFE Fortified, EP Fortified.

A lithium soap thickened, medium viscosity, synthetic hydrocarbon grease for gear train and applications where medium to heavy loads are involved such as dovetails, pinions, nose bearings, large stages and course-focus mechanisms. Fortified to improve lubricity, load-carrying capability, and friction reduction with low temperature capability.  Contains a modifier for improved adherence.
