Ashtonville - A Story of Early Motor Buses in West Devon, by Roger Grimley

Published privately by the author, 34 pages. A4 size staple bound booklet (N5216PE)

This privately published A4 size booklet tells the fascinating story of a pioneer Devon country bus proprietor, Norman Ashton of Halwill, as recalled through his staff, passengers and contemporary accounts. The booklet also includes details and fleet lists for two other local operators in the 1920’s, and is illustrated throughout with several small black and white photographs.

From the title page: The story of motor bus services in the little visited, largely unknown tract of country lying betweeb Okehampton, Launceston and Holsworthy on the Devon-Cornwall border. It covers the period from the 1920's until the 1960's, and in particular is the story of Norman Ashton, pioneer operator...

The condition of the booklet is generally very good. The card covers are clean and bright, the staple binding is tight and intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound. There is a small price sticker on the rear side cover.

When we post our books, we take great care in packaging them - first your book will be wrapped in bubblewrap, which protects the book and even keeps out any rain (in the event that it's raining when the postie delivers it!). Then we wrap your book in stiff cardboard, taking care to make sure all the corners are protected, and finally the package is wrapped in thick brown paper.
