WWII ORIGINAL GERMAN TENT TRENCH CANDLE w/HOLDER

DESCRIPTION: Offered to you is this Original German WW2 field tent, trench candle with pressed cardboard holder. They come in packs of eight in original packaging. Note: Your bid is for one candle only, box and instructions are for illustrative purposes and not for sale. The Trench candles were based on candles utilized in WWI as a way of providing limited heat and light to soldiers in the field. Generally the candles wouldn’t produce enough heat to cook food but they would be capable of heating liquids. The candles were generally produced from recycled wax and were fitted into cardboard bases and could be used independently or in conjunction with the issue Barracks lanterns. The candles proved quite popular and were considered a luxury item in the winter. The candles were commonly referred to as the "Hindenburg" candle, after Generalfeldmarschall and Weimar Republic President Paul von Hindenburg. Diam. 2 1/4". Scarce and highly collectable item in great condition.
