William Cave was a 17th-century English chaplain of the
Church of England who wrote one of the most important histories of church
fathers. ‘Antiquitates Apostlicae’,
or ‘The History of Lives of Holy Apostles’
is biographical history of the Apostles of Jesus Christ. It contains the lives
of Peter, Paul, Andrew, James of Zebedee, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew,
Thomas, James (the less), Simon, Jude, Matthias, Mark, and Luke.
Note the inclusion of impressive engravings throughout – portraits and
iconic Bible scenes.
