Viking Wolf Hanging Charm

Intelligent, loyal, and protective. Fearsome and strong. The wolf has long been associated with warriors in many cultures and so it is also associated with chaos. The wolf can bring chaos but will also protect from chaos. In Norse mythology, the wolf Fenrir will finally break his bonds and at Ragnorak he will destroy Odin. Yet Odin is depicted as having two wolves as pets that are constantly by his side. 

This piece begins with an antique silver finish chain with a lobster clasp and is attached onto a chain mail style extender. From an 8 mm Tibetan silver wreath ring hang four antique silver finish chains. 

On one chain is the focus of this hanging charm - a large detailed wolf pendant (45 x 41 mm) with dark crystal eyes. On another chain is a double-sided Tibetan silver triquetra charm (26 x 23 mm). The triquetra has both Norse and Celtic origins. As a Norse viking symbol, the triquetra is closely associated with the Valknut, Odin's symbol. One interpretation is that it symbolizes the three elements of air, water, and earth and is, therefore, fitting to be with the wolf pendant. The last two chains hold an 8 mm multi-faceted moonstone bead and an 8 mm multi-faceted black agate stone bead representing light and dark in balance.

This hanging charm can be customized for size by changing the lobster clasp placement on the chain or double wrapping the chain. The chain with lobster clasp is approximately 240 mm (9.6 inches) which allows for many options in hanging the piece. The piece itself hangs approximately 170 mm (6.8 inches) from the top ring of the chain mail extender to the bottom of stone beads.
