Charming Antique 1880s Painting Repton Anchor Church Derbyshire Naive Folk Art

On offer is a small original 19th century watercolour painting of Anchor Church near Repton, Derbyshire. It has been executed in a charming naive style and, when framed, would make an excellent decorative piece. It is supplied unframed and as pictured.  There are some general signs of wear and ageing particularly around the edges of the painting.

This was removed from an sketchbook dating to the 1880s by an artist known only as J.C.S who travelled around the British Isles in the late 19th century and recorded what he\she saw. The last photo on this listing shows the cover of the artists sketch book although please note the the sketch book is not included with this sale.

The painting is small in size and it measures approx 18cm x 12cm.

All in all, a rare and desirable depiction of a moment in time almost 140 years ago.

Please see the photos.
