1952 Topps Wings - Friend or Foe # 99 YAK-15 Russian Jet Fighter (VG/EX)


The 1952 Topps Wing – Friend or Foe card set consists of 200 cards measuring 2-5/8” by 3-3/4”. Each card features a color painting of an airplane or aircraft from the 1940s and early 1950s within a thin, black and then wider white, perimeter border. The name of the aircraft is boldly printed on the front of each card with the branch of the service consisting of the country of origin is listed beneath it. The reverse offers a description of the plane as well as its statistical measurements. Each card back also displays a “NAME THIS PLANE: Friend or Foe” quiz. The set does not feature any variations or rarities, however, finding the first (#1: T-33 – U.S. Air Force Jet Trainer) and last (#200: Fairey “Gyrodene” – British Helicopter) are extremely difficult to find in near-mint to mint condition. Key cards in the set are #2: MIG-15, #10: F7U Cutlass, #11: Vampire, #99: YAK-15, #100: F9F Panther, #118: Target Plane, #125: F-84-G Thunderjet, #149: XH-26, #150: G-80, #174: Percival P.50 Prince Transport, #175: Short Sealand and the #181: Hiller Hornet.
