ROVER 75 1.8 16v PETROL STARTER MOTOR SOLENOID

Nippon Denso starter motor's fitted to the ROVER 1.8 are prone to failure and are very expensive to replace.

Fortunately the starter is very reliable apart from the copper contacts inside the solenoid which wear away.

The solenoid can be changed very easily in about 10 minutes once the starter is removed from the vehicle.

The usual symptom would be a clicking sound and intermittent starting.

Before you purchase a solenoid I would recommend you test the main motor part of the starter by by-passing the solenoid and giving the motor a 12 volt supply. if the motor is in good condition it should spin freely and very fast.
