On offer: an original (i.e. not a later reproduction) antique hunting map "Places of Meeting of the Royal Hunt", by John Dower.  The hunt area is centred on Windsor and covers Chesham; Wokingham; Guildford and Brentford.

DATE PRINTED: 1843.

SIZE: The printed area including titles is approx 18.5 x 23.5 cm, 7.25 x 9.25 inches (medium) plus margins.   

ARTIST/CARTOGRAPHER/ENGRAVER: Drawn and engraved (actually produced directly on stone for the lithographic process) by John Dower.

PROVENANCE: Published by M.A. Pittman, Warwick Sq. London.  These hunting maps, engraved by John Dower for M.A. Pittman, originally appeared in the Sporting Review magazine in the early 1840's. The full set of 24 maps were also issued as The Fox Hunter's Atlas in c1843 and c1850.

TYPE: Antique lithograph printed on paper.

VERSO: There is nothing printed on the reverse side, which is blank.

CONDITION: Good. Suitable for framing. Please check the scan for any blemishes prior to making your purchase. Virtually all antiquarian maps and prints are subject to some normal aging due to use and time which is not significant unless otherwise stated.
