This lovely, small scale spool rocking chair is truly an antique, dating back to 1860. Victorian revivalist style furniture and the like came about with the ease of the steam lathe which made this type of spool-turned posts frame easier, relatively, and so a resurgence in their popularity came about. Inside the groves, they painted it with gold paint, adding to the contrast of the decorative post of the petite rocker. The original upholstery is a heavy tapestry fabric similar to the durable carpet fabric of the day. This gorgeous antique piece is larger than a child's chair and smaller than a typical full-size rocking chair. One repair on rocker, but all original. Thanks for looking!
