I've collected several versions of this female figure / same pose lamp from different sources over the last 20 years.  I am uncertain which period this one belongs to.  The lamp came to me from a Belgium seller around 2005 as an antique so that least explains the former European electric parts.  The quality and craftsmanship is far better and above Asian and other reproductions I've examined.  The edges are smooth and the finish quite exceptional.  But the surface lacks any substantial blemishes that normally mark the ravages of time and use.  Unless the lamp had been sitting on a shelf or received meticulous gloved care, I cannot present it as pre-1940 in the absence of further  persuasion, such as a maker's mark or an auction house validation.  The latter may always arrive later.  Of course, I've had her for 15 years, moving her from one storage site to another without, apparently, inflicting a single scratch.

The figure is a mature woman of a slender build with her hair done up.  Her arms are raised and partially hides her face.  The body language emotes many possibilities and I choose to see "demure" above others.  She stands with her feet together on a squarish base with a rounded top, of which the 4 corners seemingly extend then fold to form an organic and seamless raised footing.  A decorative yet sturdy lamp stem sprouts behind her with a swept-back curve and 2 leaf-like adornments.  The shade holder secures a Savoy Steuben gold snakeskin trumpet shade with a 2 1/4 inch fitter; it is a vintage piece and came from a separate source.  A small keyed swivel works beautifully and controls the shade's pitch, or up and down movement.  I installed a threaded socket with a ring so that future shade replacements can consider non-fitter shades as well.  The lamp comes with a LED bulb and a separate in-line switch should the new owner choose to employ it.  I have given it a cursory cleaning and leave the rest to the buyer's discretion.

I acquired this piece with a handsome hoard of lamps and period parts from established antiquities dealers over the years for my lighting business. I am saddened by her departure but also delighted she may be lovingly received and put to good service by new caretakers.  This listing is for a genuine artifact of a bygone era that will be a pleasure to welcome into a new home.
