Description: Set in 1940s Rhodesia, Mary marries Dick Turner, who owns a farm in rural Africa. As the farm fails, Mary begins an affair with her servant Moses, but they are soon discovered. Mary then asks Moses to leave, with disastrous results. The film deals with issues of infidelity, colonialism and race and gender relations of the period. Filmed in Zambia. The film is based on the novel “The Grass is Singing” by Doris Lessing. Written and Directed by Michael Raeburn. Cinematography by Bille August. Produced by Mark Forstater and Catharina Stackelberg.
