On offer: an original (i.e. not a later reproduction) antique road map showing the road from London to Dover and on the back the Road from Kidwelly to St Davids.  These being sheets 18 and 19.


DATE PRINTED: 1767. 

SIZE: The printed area including titles is approximately 21 x 16 cm, 8.25 x 6.25 inches (medium) plus margins. 

PROVENANCE:  An antique map from 'Kitchin's Post-Chaise Companion, through England and Wales; Containing All the Ancient and New Additional Roads, with Every Topographical Detail relating thereto' by Thomas Kitchin.   Published by London: Printed for and sold by Carington Bowles, 1767.  Thomas Kitchin (or Thomas Kitchen) (1718–1784) was an English engraver and cartographer, who became hydrographer to the king.    

TYPE: Antique copper plate engraving printed on paper.

VERSO: There is nothing printed on the reverse side which is blank.

CONDITION: Good. Please check the scan for any blemishes prior to making your purchase. Virtually all antiquarian maps and prints are subject to some normal aging due to use and time which is not significant unless otherwise stated.
