Clam Digger & Sandbar

This Mozambique t-shirt was inspired by a time in Mozambique 🇲🇿   with a front and back image.

“(Marty), I formally a rough rock purveyor of gemstones, went for a month in attempts to visit the mining area near Chamonix but was turned away by the government and spent the rest of the month traveling the coast and stopped at Inhambane where (he) met Marie Sa, a clam digger. At low tide, there would be 20-30 clamdiggers collecting clams at the sandbar.

This sandbar during the Portuguese time was used as an execution ceremony where criminals were chained to the sandbar and ultimately drowned as the high tide came in, then the bodies and chain would be collected in the morning.”
