Product Information
- External Circlip Din471 Stainless Steel G420is the most common type of circlip for shafts with grooves. The circlip has a large free diameter and gap width, consequently it fits more tightly into the groove and provides higher and more uniform thrust load capacity. Lugs with holes are provided for rapid fitting or removal with circlip pliers
- Applications: They are often found in applications that require a part to turn, spin or pivot, and are used within electric motors, turbines, pistons, electronics and many other areas that require bearings. Circlips help to solve problems such as clearance diameter, tolerance take-up and thrust load capacities
- Material / Coating: Stainless Steel G420 is a general purpose basic high hardenability martensitic steel with higher strength, hardness and wear resistance than G410. This is generally used for cutlery and surgical instruments, valves, gears, shafts, cams, shear blades, etc. Under hardened conditions, G420 steels are resistant to fresh water, alkalis, air, foods and mild acids. The corrosion resistance of G420; however, is lower than that of G410, G316 and G304. Stainless steels are largely non-magnetic but it is common for stainless steel fasteners to show a small degree of magnetism which is a result of work-hardening during the manufacturing process
- Can Stainless corrode?: Stainless steel is corrosion-resistant but not corrosion-proof and corrosion can occur if the material is installed or handled incorrectly. The use of tools and drills made from conventional steel during the installation of stainless steel fasteners may also lead to problems. Even the hardest of tools can produce debris that leaves minute steel particles on the stainless steel fastener surfaces or in pre-drilled holes. It is these particles that often rust when exposed to moisture or oxygen and can result in a stained or tarnished finish to the stainless steel material
