You will receive an exciting, beautiful, one-of-a-kind chandelier in the colors represented in the pictured glass samples. The chandelier will measure approximately 14-16 inches wide,4-6 deep and possess ruffled, wavy edges at top opening. Other glass sizes are available. Multiple orders invite discounts.
If you also purchase the hanging hardware, your order will arrive with hand-crafted hardware built exclusively for your chandelier glass. Hardware includes an efficient electrical system, adjustable features and energy-saving LED light bulbs. Many clients install their chandelier themselves or hire an electrician for less than an hour of work. This assumes a standard lighting infrastructure is in place (4-5 inch electrical box. 110-120 volt, level ceiling, etc.). An electrician can put the box in if you don't have it yet. If you prefer to use an outlet, I can provide you with an adjusted fixture at no additional charge. Dimmers are highly recommended for best color-effects, mood and functional lighting.
The Glass Shade
The chandelier glass is hand-blown, designed and made in my Seattle studio, the Edge of Glass. I prepare the colors, equipment and hand tools needed to create your unique piece with the help of my hot shop crew. After it's made and cooled to room temperature, we grind and polish the glass bottom to a mirror finish. The glass is signed, dated and marked with the studio acronym. I drill 3 tiny holes into the glass to attach it to the fixture I will be building next.
The Drop Measurement (only needed if you purchase the fixture)
I will give you tips and additional guidance on how to measure the perfect drop for your chandelier. The drop is measured as the distance from the ceiling to the bottom of the glass for your optimal lighting experience. Every lighting situation is unique so we will make sure the drop is not too high nor too low. Ceiling heights vary from one home or office space to another but most clients request measures between 14 inches (for 7-8 foot "low" ceilings) and 26+ inches (for 9-14 foot "high" ceilings). I will plug this number into my calculations to build the chandelier fixture around the physical and illumination needs of the glass so that it hangs and lights perfectly.
The Fixture (only applies if you purchase the fixture, too)
The fixture, or the non-glass parts of the chandelier, will consist of a ceiling canopy, 3 arms that hold the glass and a multi-socket assembly that delivers an adjustable light to the chandelier glass. The 3 hanging arms have now been optimized and are made of brass hooks and light-weight but strong, low-profile and flexible, steel cable. The light assembly has 3 sockets and each socket orientation is adjustable to accommodate different-sized light bulbs. The socket assembly also rotates so you can position the light bulbs where you want to inside the glass. The fixture will have a bronze to near-black finish. Nickel-finish fixtures cost more and are available for an additional $100.

Color Profile - "SHIMMER"
Washington State is a caretaker of a rare type of wilderness called a temperate rainforest. It's what drew me to the Pacific Northwest, from Northeast Asia by way of the American Southwest. The Olympic National Park exhibits an exotic blend of natural forces that result in flora uncommon to most places on the planet. It produces odd communities like giant ferns coexisting with alpine titans and both surrounded by warm pacific currents beneath a canopy of glacial mountain peaks. You can count the number of such ecosystems on earth on just one hand. During one exploration of the Hoh Rain forest in the vast region of the Park, I crossed a weathered wooden bridge and paused to drink in the seemingly mint-flavored, cold air in stark contrast to the mild warmth of the September sun seeping through the high, moss-draped branches of Spruce and Hemlock. I noticed how the reflection of the sun on the river below caused sparkles and shimmers. But beneath that light show, I caught flashes of blue I could not explain. Making my way to the river's edge, I crouched down and sunk my hand. The water was ice cold and looked bluer without the sun's playfulness. I understood it was not some miscast object of man that lent the unusual tint. Rather, the water had originated from the glaciers high above and the color was minerals brought down in the melt and flow.
All glass work is accomplished at a temperature exceeding 2000 degrees F and the colors will never fade over time - instead, transform only by command and control.
Don't miss this opportunity to own and enjoy a truly exceptional lighting experience with a personal touch.
