An angel stands guard over the tomb of Napoleon Bonaparte in the reverse design of the 2021 St. Helena Angel Silver Coin. After a decade romping across the European continent to expand his empire, Napoleon was eventually defeated by a coalition of European kingdoms that included Britain. He was exiled to the island of St. Helena, briefly returning to power in 1815, before living out the rest of his life on the island. He died May 5, 1821, on the island. Some 20 years after his death, his body was returned to France and buried in a tomb guarded by 12 marble angels.
