Holland Frigate Friesland Wooden Model Tall Ship 37"

This high quality, highly detailed, expert level, Friesland tall ship model is Brand New, semi-assembled and ready for display (not a kit). Some light assembly is required you will need to attach the ship model to it's base stand and attach the bowsprit into it's position, instructions and materials are included (please see images, text instructions included too). Because this model is semi-built we are able to ship the model in a much smaller package and pass the savings in shipping onto you.

This tall ship model was specially designed & built by the plank on bulkhead method (joining multiple small pieces of wood like Rosewood, Mahogany, Teak and other exotic tropical wood together on the hull). The tall ship model is built exactly to scale as the original Friesland was with many details. The task required skillful craftsmen hundreds of hours to accomplish.

This Friesland model has distinctive two tone colors wood on the hull. It also features plank on frame, three decks, and two rows of ferocious cannons on each side of the ship. The front bowsprit and three large masts are connected securely using advanced rigging and lines painstakingly knotted and fastened by hand. Each yard has an attached hand-stitched unfurled sails made of fine linen. Metal anchors and a wooden rudder are visible on the front and rear of the ship. On the deck, there are stationed cannons, an authentic hand-built lifeboat with ribs and planks, wooden cabin, and many other handcrafted ornaments. There is also an exquisite detailed admiral’s quarter on stern with beautiful handcrafted metal lanterns, statues, and ornaments.

The Friesland a frigate, was a second rank vessel built around 1663, she was part of the great fleet of the United Provinces of Holland, which consisted of 1700 ships. She was outfitted with 80 guns.

In 1672, along side 77 other war ships and under the command of De Ruyter’s, who was on board the admiral ship "Zeven Provincen" it took part in the battle of Solebay with the allied Anglo French forces.

The model measures 37" long from bow to stern. It's a beautiful ship model that will be conversation piece for any room or office.
