Lorianne Crook and Charlie Chase have been the go-to source for country music news and entertainment for 30 years now, reaching millions of fans not only in North America, but around the globe. Each week, listen in to the Country Radio Hall of Fame members as they host the syndicated radio program, THE CROOK AND CHASE COUNTDOWN, airing all across America. It all started back in 1983, when Crook and Chase had heard of each other, but had never met. Lorianne was hosting her own show on the ABC television affiliate in Nashville and Charlie was hosting his own show on the competing NBC affiliate. (In all honesty, Lorianne had been a fan of Charlie's since her high school days when she and her cheerleading buddies listened to Charlie as a DJ on his radio show on WMAK). Charlie is quick to point out that is just a rumor, but Lorianne stands by her story.

Unbeknownst to either of them, while they were going about their business of hosting their TV shows, a famous producer by the name of Jim Owens was watching each of them on their respective stations. Jim had a hunch that Lorianne and Charlie might work well together as a team reporting on country music and its stars. At that time, there was no television show of any kind along that line.

In April of 1983, Jim arranged a meeting, bringing himself together with Crook and Chase at the Opryland Hotel. It was there that he told them of his idea for a syndicated TV show he was creating called THIS WEEK IN COUNTRY MUSIC that he would like for them to host. Lorianne and Charlie took an instant liking to each other, and one thing led to another. By June of that year, they had produced a pilot episode of the show, which Jim was successful in selling all across the nation. Crook & Chase debuted as a team in September of '83.

THIS WEEK IN COUNTRY MUSIC remained a popular syndicated show for two years, after which, the fledgling network TNN requested exclusive airing rights beginning in 1985. Crook and Chase remained on TNN until its demise as a country network at the end of 1999. During those 16 years, Lorianne and Charlie became two of the network's most popular and respected hosts, producing thousands of hours of programming, including THE CROOK & CHASE SHOWCROOK & CHASE TONIGHTMUSIC CITY TONIGHT WITH CROOK & CHASECELEBRITIES OFFSTAGEFUNNY BUSINESSTODAY'S COUNTRY, and countless award shows and specials.  Much of their personal and professional history was documented in their 1995 book "CROOK AND CHASE: OUR LIVES, THE MUSIC, AND THE STARS".

Since teaming up in 1983, Crook and Chase have been involved in the production of television and radio programs on a continuous basis, making them one of the longest running broadcast duos in the business. They're still going strong 30 years later! And in February 2013, they were inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame.Crook & Chase. In February of 2017, Lorianne and Charlie were surprised on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry as stars and industry awarded them the Bob Kingsley Living Legend Award!

THIS SHOW, ONE OF THEIR EARLIEST PAIRINGS TOGETHER,STARTED IN THE LP ERA OF RADIO SHOWS AND CONTINUED NTO THE EARLY YEARS OF CD, A FEW OF WHICH STILL REMAIN IN MY OFFERINGS TO YOU ALTHOUGH MOST HAVE SOLD.

FOLLOWING THIS SHOW FOR THE NASHVILLE NETWORK, THEY STARTED ANOTHER SHOW FOR THE UNITED STATIONS RADIO NETWORK , THE CROOK AND CHASE COUNTDOWN, WHICH YOU CAN ALSO SEE IN MY STORE.

BUT, FOR LONG FORM COUNTDOWN SHOWS ON LP, THERE REALLY WERE ONLY THREE OF NOTE: THIS ONE, THE NASHVILLE RECORD REVIEW WHICH IS THE RAREST BY FAR, BOB KINGSLEY'S AMERICAN COUNRY COUNTDOWN, AND UNITED STATIONS WEEKLY COUNTRY COUNTDOWN

THERE WERE SOME OTHER POPULAR SERIES ON LP ALSO SUCH AS LEE ARNOLD'S ON A COUNTRY ROAD, LEN HOLTON'S COUNTRY TOP 10, AND AL RISEN'S NASHVILLE TOP TO, ALL OF WHICH YOU CAN FIND IN MY STORE.

ANOTHER BIG PLUS FOR COLLECTORS IS THAT THE SHOW COMES IN ITS ORIGINAL MAILER TO THE RADIO STATIONS THAT AIRED THE SHOW, ON FOUR LP'S, ONE FOR EACH HOUR, EACH IN LIKE NEW CONDITION, ALONG WITH THE CUE SHEETS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION.

HAVING IT COME IN ITS ORIGINAL MAILER NOT ONLY ADDS TO ITS VALUE BUT IS AN INDICATOR OF THE CARE WITH WHICH IT HAS BEEN TAKEN ALL THESE YEARS.

THIS SHOW WAS #TNNR-161-H AND AIRED THE WEEKEND OF JANUARY 4, 1992

SO HERE ARE THE BIG QUESTIONS IF YOU DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT RADIO SHOWS:

 WHAT IS A RADIO SHOW?

 WHY COLLECT THEM?

 WHERE DO THEY COME FROM?

Well, those are good questions, especially if you have never known of them.

First allow me tell you my own personal story of discovering the wonder of radio shows.

I discovered radio shows quite by accident while reading one of my favorite (long since departed) magazines called "Discoveries" (It was later bought by the same company that publishes "Goldmine" which I personally always considered a lesser publication, but that is another story.

This was before ebay became the driving force in radio show sales (and everything else) in the later 1990's.

I was especially attracted in "Discoveries" to a two page (or more) spread in each issue by a guy called "The Old Hippie".

Let me tell you, the Old Hippie had it all.  He was a real pioneer.  Way before anyone knew what radio shows even were let alone that they could be bought as rarities, he had the market cornered.

Most shows that he advertised were way beyond my budget but I drooled over those pages every issue and once in awhile I could afford one or two.

Now, I have attempted in my own humble way to take on the mantle of "The Old Hippie".  I have listed over 10,000 unique radio shows of all genres for you all to drool over, and most at prices, hopefully, that collectors can better afford!  I want to make available to collectors what I could not afford and especially in these days of higher prices and lesser availability.

Radio shows are harder and harder to find in quantity and the prices for the ones still out there just go higher and higher as they disappear from the market.  However, because of my large presence on eBay, I am always being contacted with selling offers, some of which I take advantage of and some I have to pass on because of the prices. I have found that by buying in bulk, even when many or most of the shows are lesser known but still amazing shows, I can offer the best prices on all titles.

And, even though I price all my shows so that I make very little on each sale, most of which I use to buy more shows to make available to you, if you find the price too high, let me know and we can likely work out something you can afford.  I want everyone to be able to have what they want for their collection.

So, again, what is a radio show?

Radio Shows are syndicated productions by one of several large and small distributors who supply broadcast product to radio stations normally during weekends when the usual air personalities have a break.

Many air on Saturday or Sunday evenings or during overnight segments.

They often feature some of the best known voices for their genre from across the country thus the Dick Clark's and Casey Kasem's and Rick Dees and Dick Bartley and so many others.

People collect them for various reasons.

Some just collect the series because they like it and want them all.

Some collect their favorite artists or genre of music.  Rather than an album by the artist or a compilation downloaded through iTunes or wherever, they have a unique presentation of their favorite artist or music not available anywhere else and always with dj comments which were very entertaining.

Some collect interviews with their favorite artists as most shows had interview segments.

Some collect commercials especially old car commercials but certainly not limited to only those.

AND, these shows are in limited quantity.

They were pressed just for syndicated stations in the United States.

Many have just a few still in circulation.

Some of the more popular shows may have as few as a couple hundred of each week's show pressed but think about it.  A couple hundred for some 200 million Americans and millions of overseas collectors who look for unique presentations of their favorite artists or form of music is about as rare as rare can be.

This show itself was only ever sent to the top 175 Metro markets. Smaller markets had to take the satellite feed once it became available.  So at the very most there were only 175 copies of each show EVER.   How do you compute rareness.  175 copies for the whole United States market and 25 years ago or more means that could possibly not be ANY more of these shows and at the very most there are 175 .       How many survived as did the ones I have is anyone's guess.

This is because most stations just threw these away after network broadcast since they could not be aired again because of the dated commercial content and most stations had limited storage space. (Believe me I know I work at one!)

So it is likely that very few still exist and they are increasingly hard to find.

They were first distributed on reel to reel tape if the show goes back that far into the 60's, then later on lp, later on CD and even later (after 2000 for most shows) on CDR.  Now they are not available at all to collectors since they are distributed by digital download much like you get your music from iTunes.

These shows become rarer and rarer every day because the people who buy them hold on to them and the people who sell them, like me, are running out of them.   My best radio station contact for these shows is out of shows and I am  at the mercy of finding a good deal here and there but never from a regular source and maybe not from a radio station but other collectors.

The shows that you get now and hold on to will never decrease in value and only increase.

I have prided myself since the start to provide the best and fairest cost with a  guarantee that you will be happy or I refund your money.  I sell them for near what I bought them for.  I give volume discounts and discount postage always.  As the postal service increases their rates, my shipping rates over the years have decreased.

And, I have one of the biggest radio show libraries in the world consisting of over ten thousand unique shows, so many that I don't even know all that I have and am sometimes amazed when I go to look for one show and find another that I did not realize I had.

Finally, it is Americana at its best.

Whether the show be from the 60's or 2000's, rock, countdown, oldies, country, classical, religious, jazz or big band, it is unique and home grown.

And you just can't find them anywhere.

Even record stores that still exist will rarely have any.   Radio shows are wonderful representations of the real golden age of music radio.

And every  one you buy is  an original, not a copy, not a remake - all are limited editions in the hundreds at most and most, like this special show,  much less.  Once you get hooked, like me, it is a love affair for life!  Welcome to the Club!

My prices are guaranteed to save!   Others say they are the lowest for radio shows on the internet - compare shop.  Add their prices and shipping costs and compare with mine.  You WILL save and the more you buy the more you save.  And check my feedback.  That says it all.  I will make you happy.

Now let's talk about this great COUNTDOWN show,

AMERICAN COUNTRY COUNTDOWN WITH BOB KINGSLEY

Picture yourself back in the late 60's, even the 70's into the 90's.  You were at one with to your transistor radio or Sony Walkman listening to the top 40 presented by your local radio station.  You had that radio glued to your ear or connected with the little earphone jack that immediately broke.  Your local dj was great.  He knew the music.  He had the gift of talking which rarely occurs anymore.  You loved the presentation of the music as much as the sounds.  You liked the station jingles.

And on weekends when the local dj's had off, you listened to either taped shows they did during the week to be played on the weekend or a syndicated radio show featuring one of the greats.

It was the golden age of rock and country.  Music was king and the dj's were just as popular.  You can relive those days whether you grew up then or just wish you had, on only a handful of oldies shows.  THIS IS ONE OF THEM.

BOB KINGSLEY, AMERICA'S PREMIER COUNTRY DJ FOR DECADES, HOSTED AMERICAN COUNTRY COUNTDOWN FOR CLOSE TO 40 YEARS AND WAS AND IS LEGENDARY.

IT WAS A FOUR  HOUR SPECTACULAR COMPLETE WITH MULTIPLE INTERVIEWS AND THE BEST COUNTRY SINGERS OF OUR TIME WITH THE COUNTDOWN AND MANY EXTRAS AND RARE INTERVIEWS.

BOB'S KNOWLEDGE OF COUNTRY ARTISTS CANNOT BE RIVALED.

It is extremely rare and you cannot find it anywhere but if you do, you are lucky.

FOUR hours of the best country Country music ever,  presented by a dj who knows the genre better than anyone in the business.

The show aired weekly on the American Broadcasting Companies Radio Network

THIS SHOW AIRED ON AUGUST 19, 1989 AND WAS SHOW #893 8-13

It came on four LPs in like new condition played only once and with the cue sheets in excellent condition

IT IS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL LP SHOWS I HAVE EVER SEEN.

It comes with its original album cover in which it was sent to the radio station

SHOW CONTENTS CAN BE SEEN ON THE CUE SHEETS IN THE LISTING PICTURES

The soundtrack of our lives were shaped by this music and it belongs in your collection.

Remember, when you buy this show, not only will you own the tunes but also interspersed between songs is fascinating commentary on the artists and songs that only Bob Kingsley can provide.

Also, keep in mind that this and all the radio shows are not just about the music - the music can be found anywhere.  It is the mixture of great music and great announcing that makes it so entertaining.

As well, it is a piece of radio history.  You just aren't going to find these shows anymore.  Think of what they will be worth in a few years!  (IF you wanted to sell.)

I am selling to share with other music lovers what I was able to get at a reasonable price; in fact, believe it or not, I paid a lot more than you will for most of these shows than you will.

As always, I charge only shipping on the first show you buy for US buyers  and for my international friends,  so the more you buy the more money you will save.

Good Luck and God Bless You.
