FULLY IN GERMAN.

Before describing the book, here is a description of the VERY SPECIAL SCULPTURE THAT IS THE FOCUS OF THIS BOOK.  This is the English translation done by Google from a German website:

"At the beginning of 1999 the entrepreneurial couple Richard and Erika Borek from Braunschweig commissioned the sculptor Prof. Jürgen Weber to create a work of art that would commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ 2000 years ago.  A column was created with plastic themed rings on the history of Christianity, which were attached to the great Tradition of bronze art in the Braunschweiger Land, in particular linked to the Christ column in Hildesheim Cathedral. The end of the column is remarkable: it is the love of God that Lessing tries to achieve in his Ring Parable of the three religions, which repeatedly successfully fends off attacks on the faith, be it through National Socialism or through today's terror. This is how the title of the 1st encyclical of Pope Benedict XVI rises. from January 2006 - DEUS CARITAS EST - GOD IS LOVE - surrounded by a halo, about violence and destruction.

From the first conception to the final completion in September 2006, the creation of the Christianity pillar took almost seven years to complete. It grew from 3.50 m and 6.50 m to 9 m. It was handed over to the citizens of Braunschweig in 2006 by the Richard Borek Foundation."

The book is titled, Die Braunschweiger Säule, which translates (unsatisfactorily) to, The Brunswick column.  The front board also highlights, "2000 Jahre Christentum", which translates to, 2000 Years of Christianity.  Finally, the front board identifies the sculptor Jürgen Weber.  The book is published by Deutscher Kunstverlag, Edited by Renate Weber and Rosemari Schillemeit, with photography by Jutta Brudern.

THE BOOK IS INSCRIBED BY EDITOR RENATE WEBER on the first free endpaper - see listing photo.  The inscription is in English, "For our sweet Lila to remember Jürgen Weber with love, Renate".

The book is in NEAR FINE CONDITION.  Boards pristine with no corner or edge wear.  No further interior marks in 144 clean and solidly bound pages.

There are two very special statutes by Jürgen Weber at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.  Here is a description of those statues and a brief description of the sculptor:

"In the entrance plaza of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts stand two large bronze panels by German artist Jürgen Weber (1928-2007): "Amerika" and "War or Peace." The two pieces were created between 1966 and 1971 and were a gift from the Federal Republic of Germany in memory of John F. Kennedy. Weber was born in Münster (North Rhine-Westphalia) and studied art history and sculpture at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart. He is well-known in Germany for his bold - and often controversial - sculptures, which stand in prominent public spaces all over the country."

A VERY SPECIAL BOOK ON A VERY SPECIAL MONUMENT IN GERMANY!
