The reverse of the coin presents the monstrous image of the fire-breathing Chimera, a hybrid creature depicted as a lion, with the head of a goat arising from its back, and a tail ending with a snake's head.
On the bottom of the reverse, the inscription: "2018" - the year of issue. On the right, the inscription: "CHIMERA" - the name of the coin.
The obverse of the coin depicts the Tanzanian Coat of Arms and the inscriptions: "TANZANIA" - the issue country and "1500 SHILLINGS" - the face value.
This is a very limited mintage of just 499 coins.
