The Nature of Nottinghamshire - The WIldlife and Ecology of the County, by Richard Marquiss

Published by Barracuda Books in 1987, 148 pages. Large Hardback with Dust Jacket - c.20.5cm by 27cm (A29LCHX1)

From the inside front fly leaf: The Nature of Nottinghamshire, written and illustrated by local naturalists, highlights the county's countryside and wildlife, while recognising the universal hand of man; here are familiar and less familiar places where plants and animals, birds and butterflies and all the rich cornucopia of nature lives and breathes and has its being.

The quiet corners of busy towns are not forgotten, nor the paths of Sherwood; the new waters of the gravelpits, the great Trent, and the old estates of the Dukeries take their rightful place in Britain's natural heritage. Farm and industry reveal their wildlife secrets, and the origins of all these miracles, and man's mistakes, are traced to the beginnings of time. This is a book to delight anyone who knows the county and surprise those who don't. Its expertise is woven into an eminently readable narrative, its revelations enhanced by photographs, both black and white and in colour, and its pages decorated with superlative drawings.

The condition of the book is generally very good. The dust jacket has some minor scuffs, and light creasng and wear along the edges and corners, but the spine is intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound.

When we post our books, we take great care in packaging them - first your book will be wrapped in bubblewrap, which protects the book and even keeps out any rain (in the event that it's raining when the postie delivers it!). Then we wrap your book in stiff cardboard, taking care to make sure all the corners are protected, and finally the package is wrapped in thick brown paper.
