ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
This beautiful traditional craft tea canister is made by "SEIGADO", which was founded in 1945 and has a workshop in Yahiko Village, Niigata Prefecture. Pursuing the coloring and expression of copper materials, while inheriting traditional techniques, they not only produce copperware, but also create metal modeling works, which are exhibited at art exhibitions, art fairs, and art galleries.
TECHNIQUE
Handcrafted by a skilled craftsman, this double seals container is airtight and excellent because the interior seal lid is made to fit perfectly. The antique brown color is a color that changes and develops the color of copper itself by the traditional method. Please understand that there are some individual differences because the pattern on the surface and the pattern on the exterior lid are also done manually by craftsmen using a hammer.
VERSATILE USAGE
This great double lids tea canister is made of pure copper, making it sturdy and durable. Therefore, as an airtight food storage container, it can also be used to store various foods such as Japanese tea, green tea, matcha, loose leaf tea, tea bags, coffee, sugar, nuts, and herb tea.
GOOD LUCK PATTERN
The top of the outer lid of this tea canister has a pattern on it that means good luck. There are three types of patterns: "KOZUCHI", "HYOTAN", and "MEDETAI".
  • 【KOZUCHI】 -Mallet of Luck-
The "UCHIDE NO KOZUCHI" is a wooden hammer that appears in Japanese folk tales. It is said that if you make a wish by swinging a "UCHIDE NO KOZUCHI", any wish will come true.
  • 【HYOTAN】 -Cluster of Gourds-
Gourd has long been considered a good luck item in Japan. It is considered to be a lucky charm in many fields such as good luck.
  • 【MEDETAI】 -Happy Sea Bream-
From the Japanese word "MEDETAI (Happy)" "TAI = Sea Bream", sea bream is a "lucky food" in Japan. Therefore, a whole sea bream dish is served during a congratulatory celebration.
COMFORTABLE SIZE
The lucky metal tea canister is 3.0 inches (7.7 cm) high and 3.1 inches (7.8 cm) in diameter for 100 grams of Japanese Green Tea, making it a handy size to keep on a table or counter.
If you buy a large amount of loose leaf tea, it's a good idea to keep it in the fridge as a bag and put some in this container in a convenient place for everyday use.
It's also a great gift because it's in a nice wooden box that says "Copper Tea Canister" in Japanese.
