tips and useful information
IF YOU HAVE A IR REMOTE THAT looks to be in GOOD CONDITION BUT DOES NOT APPEAR TO WORK....
here is a way to prove the remote is good or not.
first, put a good new battery or batteries in the fire remote.
Take your working.... TV remote ( something you know is working )
turn on the camera on your mobile phone
point tv remote at the camera and press each of the buttons on the remote, you need to test each button, you will see the infra red led flash on the phone screen ( you can't see it with the naked eye )
If you see nothing, then you may have a mobile phone that has infra red filters, so try with a friends phone, different make or model ! ( remember, you know the TV remote works, so it must be the wrong type of mobile phone for this test )
Once you have a phone that shows the infra red working on your good tv remote,
your ready to test your remote in the same way.
If your remote DOES flash on the camera screen, that indicates the remote is GOOD and your appliance is faulty,
so a new remote is not going to solve your problem.
if your remote does NOT flash blueish/ purple light on the camera phone, then you can be pretty sure you have a FAULTY remote, or maybe the battery you fitted was no good, check again if in doubt.
