You are bidding on a scarce set of antiquarian hardcover books titled The Last Days of Pompeii by Edward Bulwer Lytton. Published by Estes and Lauriat. There is no date on title or copyright page, but date of 1891 appears in the Publisher's Note. The books are illustrated. The illustrations are protected by captioned tissue guards. This is the First Edition. This special set is called The Pompeiian Edition.

You are bidding on Volumes I and II, which completes the set. It is an all-matching set.

This is a magnificent, decorative set that would add beauty and elegance to any bookshelf!

Condition:

This is an uncommonly nice example of the set. Red cloth spines and white boards intricately decorated and lettered in gold. Top edge gilt. Edges of boards beveled. The covers are tightly bound with no cracking or splitting of hinges. The cream-colored binding shows some spotting to rear covers. All pages are very clean and tightly bound. There are no previous owner signatures, and no previous owner bookplates.

The books remain in very good condition!

This rare set would be a wonderful addition to a collection.

Great gift idea!
