You are bidding on a very rare antique hardcover book titled The Letters of Junius. The book is complete in this one volume. A New Edition with a Copious Index. Published in London, 1786.

Imagine, this book is from 1786, is over 225 years old, and was printed shortly after the United States of America became a country!

Junius was the pseudonym of a writer who contributed a series of letters to the Public Advertiser, from 21 January 1769 to 21 January 1772. The signature had been already used, apparently by him, in a letter of 21 November 1768. These and numerous other personal letters were not included in his Letters of Junius collection, published in 1772.

The book features full leather binding. The book was beautifully rebound at some point, perhaps the late 19th century. The covers are firmly attached with no splitting or tearing of hinges. The spine has five raised bands with gold titling. The binding shows some gentle wear but remains in very good condition.

All pages are clean and tightly bound with some scattered light foxing with many pages having no foxing at all. No signs of previous ownership.  The book remains in very good condition.

This rare book would be a wonderful addition to a collection.

Great gift idea!
