This economical wire is an ideal practice wire to use before wire-wrapping with precious metal wire.

This dead-soft 22-gauge jeweler’s brass square wire features four flat sides; the flat surfaces are ideal for aligning two or more strands with one another and when soldering components to the wire. Give the wire a twist to create attractive twist wire. Simple hoops, bangles and other components take on a fresh, dynamic look when made using square wire. Dead soft wire is easy to bend, shape and hammer; it is an ideal starting point for forming, shaping and wire-wrapping. Keep in mind that hardness is changeable (by annealing or heat-hardening) and is relative among metal types (each temper will feel and handle differently from one metal to another). When finishing your pieces, also keep in mind that the harder the metal is, the brighter a finish it will take.

Jeweler's brass is a great choice when you want a color as close as possible to 14K yellow gold at a base-metal price point. Also known as red brass, NuGold, Merlin's gold and jeweler’s bronze, this material fires well with BRONZclay™ and with bronze sheet, wire and findings, offering you a wider range of design options.
