From the estate of a family member of the artist, this auction is for an original c1960 painting by Listed Artist MARTIN KAINZ (American 1899-1982).
One of several I am listing tonight. Please take a look at my other auctions, for other works by this artist, as these works would make quite a statement if displayed together, on one wall.
Painting is on 24" x 19" thick woven artists paper. Although difficult to see because of the darkness of the painting, it is signed at bottom right: M KAINZ.
This piece would look terrific with your Danish Modern / Eames / Mod Retro decor. A stunning piece that could be the focal point of any Mid-Century room.
Kainz created many of his works on paper by wrapping the irregular edges of the paper around a wooden frame, and tacking the border to the frame. When a painting was completed, he could simply untack the paper, which made for easier stacking and storage.
The work could be matted and framed, for a clean finished look, or floated in a frame, under glass, with irregular edges of paper showing.
Painting displays beautifully, and is in excellent condition, with absolutely no rips, tears, holes, (except tack holes in border), overpaint, or repairs. Artwork will be loosely rolled in a sturdy cardboard tube for shipping.
Guaranteed to be authentic vintage hand-signed painting, not a reproduction or print.
