Lovely 17th Century Miniature Dutch Knitting Blue Girl Oil Copper Painting After or By Gerrit Dou !!!! A heavenly art piece for the God loving ! I say after or by Gerrit Dou because this miniature oil on copper painting is better than the original. Sometimes artist created a main art piece which later on clients admired and requested a portrait for their beloved in the same manner and setting, which I believe might very well be the case here, for my blue girl looks way more dutch than the one in the original? So who knows? One can observe traces of gilding on the reverse copper which would have made excellent protective measure which partially explains why this beauty is in such lovely condition. The outer frame dimensions are approximately 18.4 cm (7 3.7/16 inches) x 15.35 cm (6 0.5/16 inches).
