In 1942, Friedrich Doblgoff began work on a jet helicopter. The construction of the helicopter was carried out at the factory of the company "Wiener Neustadter flyugzeigwerke" in Vienna with state assistance.
From 1942 to 1945, four prototypes of the Doblhoff helicopter (named after the developer) were built, having the designation WNF 342 (from the abbreviated name of the manufacturer - Wiener Neustadter Flugzeugwerke). The first three versions of the helicopter did not participate in the battles. 4 continued to fly until the spring of 1945, until in March it was evacuated to the rear, in order to avoid the capture of the prototype by the Soviet troops.
